Osada

By zippedyzipzang
00111.jpg

Osada is a point-and-click game but not like Sam and Max or Monkey Island, it’s a point-and-click game in a more literal sense. You search with clicks of your mouse for objects to interact with, a click can shoot a gun out of a man’s hand, cause a plant to grow, or cause a moving train to come to a screeching halt.

In the first scene, you see the silhouette of a mountain range set against a warm evening sky. A simple beat playing out in the background. You click around, and as you do the members of a mariachi band become illuminated, as you bring one into the light you will suddenly be able to hear the instrument he’s playing. A second click will return him to the darkness and you won’t be able to hear him anymore. After you have had your fun seeing what music you can produce by skipping various band members in and out, a click on the fire that is keeping them warm will transport you to the next scene. A few screens later, you will be shooing away bearded flies in camo gear, and a few screens after that, you will be keeping a tally as three large tattoo-sporting men drink beer. On your first play through you really won’t know what you will be presented with next, and you will have real fun discovering what a click of your mouse will do next.

Football Manager 12

By BillGameBase

PC - Sports Interactive/SEGA

Football Manager is a strategy game in which you are challenged to put your football theories and strategies to the test and take charge of the team of your choice and lead them to the top.

Football Manager 12 keeps up with the recent shift in direction of the franchise to make the game more accessible to those who may be less familier with the games or new to them entirely.

The interface consists of spreadsheet type layouts which can be tweaked and re-tweaked as much or as little as you like using cursor movement and single clicks. Most icons are small and some are very small, requiring accurate control of the cursor to interact with them. Some item dragging, such as moving players positions about, is used in the Tactics pages, but alternatives are available enabling gameplay to be entirly controlled using single clicks (see video below). In addition drop down menus do not require to be held open whilst you navigate them and scroll bars have up and down icons attached allowing you to scroll with individual clicks.

The Tiny Bang Story

PC (& Mac) - Colibri Games

After an asteroid hits 'Tiny Planet' you must help put it back together by finding hidden objects and completing puzzles.

As a point and click puzzle game the controls are cursor movement and left click (no keyboard use is required except 'esc' to bring up the menu). Objects can be very small, so accurate control of the mouse cursor is neccessary as are timed button presses. Whilst the majority of the gameplay can be carried out at your own pace, some tasks will require quick reactions.

Some puzzles also require repeated use of dragging to complete them i.e. holding the left mouse button down whilst moving the cursor.

PC (opens in a separate window) - GraemesFreeGames.com

In CUBES you must move around different layouts of cubes, changing the colour of them from blue to yellow. When you have changed all of the cubes on a level you move onto the next. To make this harder for you there are the pesky enemies. Some will repaint your cubes others will attack you and take away one of your lives.

In the options these enemies can be turned on or off and/or their speed adjusted. The skill level required can also be changed as can the speed.

Introducing Alt Controller...

By Still Shakey

Hi everyone!

Introducing Alt Controller... a free program I've developed for mapping computer inputs, such as pointer movements and button presses, to actions, such as key presses.

The video below shows how you can play a racing game that only supports keyboard input just by moving the mouse pointer around the screen.

Bill and I gave it a quick test with the eye gaze system, and it worked with that too :)

Here's how it works... I used Alt Controller to define some invisible rectangles for steering left and right, and for accelerating and braking:

Space Ball Cosmo Dude

By Alex
Space ball.png

Space Ball Cosmo Dude is an addictive sports simulation style basketball game. Your objective is to achieve the highest score possible by shooting the ball into the basket which awards points. You have 2 min in which to do this in. Each "round" increases the minimum score required in order to move on to the next round.

Really colourful and exciting graphics make it a lot more engaging and intense. The little weird aliens also give you strange comments whenever you make a basket.

Gameplay is very simple: simply point and click where you wish to shoot the ball and the rest is taken care of. It's all about getting the correct angles. Play the game long enough and you will find yourself making shots on "autopilot" as your brain istinctively learns how to shoot. No dragging or double-click is needed; only a single left click.

Challenge your friends to beat your high score! There is no head-to-head multiplayer mode, but perhaps they may add this feature in future releases.

PC - VTree LLC (Powered By EA Sports)

VTree have created a highly accessible, high quality game which would be at home amongst any of the mainstream sports games you could pull off the shelf at any high street videogame shop.

That is until you load up the game and see the range of playable control options available, which you wouldn't ordinarily come accross in your standard game. The main ways of controlling the gameplay and menu's are using either a  pointer, switches (or keyboard) or an XBox 360 controller.

Whilst FIFA's mouse control option was dropped from it's latest release after only two years featuring in the PC version, it makes a welcome reappearance in EA's latest project,  FIFA Online (Open Beta).

Those who found the input method intuitive and compatible with their computer control method will be rewarded with a game which has been designed to be played using the mouse alone.

Chain Factor

By BillGameBase

Chain Factor Screenshot showing coloured discs with numbers on their faces in the gameplay grid..jpg
PC (opens in a browser) - chainfactor.com

Chain Factor is the original game which inspired the iPhone hit 'Drop 7.'
Whilst initially appearing complex the basic gameplay is simple. The aim is to drop the numbered discs into a row or column in which its number matches the size (length) of it e.g. if you have a disc to drop which has a number 4 on it then add it to a column presently 3 high to make it 4 high.

To move the discs along the columns use a mouse pointer and to drop it use a left click. The discs 'stick' to your cursor as you move it, so no dragging is required. There is no time element to the game. And whilst the gameplay area opens up fairly small in your browser window, using your browsers zoom increases the size of the games appearance.
