Wii - Nintendo
"Laugh together, smile together, play together. Nintendo is throwing the party of the year and everyone's invited!"
There is certainly quantity as well as plenty of quality with this bundle of 80+ mini games aimed at inspiring you and your friends' competitive instincts.
The games are categorised into gameplay styles such as House Party, Party Games, Pair Games and Minigames. With such variety of games comes a variety of controls. Some of the games use simple up and down actions, whilst others use the wii-mote in the side ways driving position or the pointer type gameplay mechanic.
Some of my favourite picks (which highlight my liking for simple and intuitive control schemes) are:
1) 'Commuter Count' in which two players count the number of mii's on a train whilst it whizzes past the platform. Simply press the 'A' button for each commuter you see. The player with the closest count wins.
2) 'Timber Topple' is again a two player game, in which both players simulataniously chop a tree from either side by moving the wii-mote up and down or side to side. The deepest cut at the countdown wins.
3) 'Derby Dash' can be played with up to four players. You are given a horse and rider with a finite amount of energy which you must use strategically over the race to come out the winner. To use some of your energy shake the wii-mote up and down.
4) Finally 'Goal Getter' is another of the four player mini-games, which requires few controls but lots of timing. As the cross comes in each player gets a turn to volley it into the back of the net by swinging the wii-mote downwards as the ball arrives at your foot.
With more than plenty on offer, Wii Party gives you a wide range of games and modes to explore and choose your own favourites.
