1. Tomb Hunter

Tomb-Hunter-Audio-Game.jpg
(PC) - from USA Games Interactive ($35 with free trial)

A side-scrolling adventure game with Tomb Raider leanings. Fantastic sound effects and atmosphere make this an audio game with depth. Listen to the game being played and explained by Dark in the Electronic Soup Podcast.

2. Entombed

(PC) - Driftwood Games (donation ware - give what you like)

A Role Playing Game, a little like Dungeons and Dragons, but in pure Audio. You can also hear this game being played and explained by Dark in the Electronic Soup Podcast.

3. A Time of Conflict

(PC) - GMA Games ($33 with free trial)

A real-time strategy game, for thinkers who want to rule the world by blowing big chunks of it up. Tsk tsk!

4. V.I. Tennis

(PC + Bluetooth and Wii Remote) - from V.I. Fit (free!)

A Wii Tennis like experience for one or two players with no need for a TV screen at all once set up and going. See the GameBase V.I. Tennis review here.

5. Terra Formers

(PC) - PiN Interactive ($40 with free trial)

A 3D space adventure, that can be played by both sighted and blind players. There's not enough games with this amount of ambition. Read the GameBase 'Terra Formers' review here.

6. Mach 1

(PC) - Kitchen's Inc. (free!)

Hugely fun audio game take on of Namco's classic coin-op racing game Pole Position. It's essential that you read the help files first to familiarise yourself with all the controls. Read the GameBase 'Mach 1' review here. Direct 'Mach 1' download here

7. Win-Pong

(PC) - Kitchen's Inc. (free!)

An audio game remake of Pong, which itself is a remake of Tennis. A really good starting point for audio gaming. Make sure you've got a good set of headphones. Hear Win-Pong in action in the first Electronic Soup Podcast. Direct 'Win-Pong' download here.

8. The Curb Game (PG)

(On-line) - AudioGames.net (free!)

Why did the Chicken commit suicide? To get to the other side. My appologies! The Curb Game sees you as a hedgehog, playing chicken on a zebra crossing. Press UP to cross when it sounds safe, and likewise, press down to cross back. Play 'The Curb-Game' on-line here.

9. Space Invaders for Blind

(PC) - Software for the Disabled and Taito (demo only outside of Japan)

It's only a demo, and most of it is in Japanese, but if you're of a certain age (i.e. old!) this will take you back to smokey pubs and arcades when Space Invaders was king. AudioGames review here. Direct 'Space Invaders for Blind' download here.

10. Street Fighter II

mousou_controller_play_toy-(5).jpg
(Dedicated Handheld) - Namco Bandai Group

Dubbed "Imagination Sound Controllers", also known as Mousou controllers, these are hand held audio games for one or two players. It's hard to believe that a full game of Street Fighter II is actually being played, but you never know. Standard 2D fighting games can be successfully played blind, with skill, luck and judgement. Not sure about this one, but it's so sweet, we had to include it!

Read more on 'Street Fighter II' in our full review or learn more about playing games with a visual impairment in the second Electronic Soup Podcast.

    Well...
I'd offer our Here Comes the Duck!
It's the only game we know of that is playable by blind 2-year olds.
