iPad, iPhone (UK and Ireland only) - Somethin' Else

"You’ve been stranded on a dying spacecraft, spiralling into a black hole … and then your problems really start."

The makers of the audio iPhone game '
Papa Sangre' are back (surpringly quickly) with a new, what they term, “video game with no video.”

The control scheme remains the same as with Papa Sangre, with the high contrast gameplay screen effectively divided into three with the top half of the (landscape) screen being used for direction and the bottom half (divided into two) for movement.

To change direction, swipe from  left to right on the dial on the top half of the screen to turn left and visa versa.
To move, tap alternatively on the track on the bottom right and left of the screen to walk.

To navigate you must listen out for the various sounds (use of headphones is pretty much essential) which will guide you towards or away from objects and obstacles.

The menu navigation can be aided with the use of the iPad's 'VoiceOver' feature, however it must be turned of during gameplay itself to allow you to interact with the controls correctly. Use the toggle feature (implemented in the 'Accessibility Settings' menu), which allows you to use triple taps of the 'Home' button to turn it on and off during gameplay.

Whilst the menus can be tricky to navigate using audio feedback alone, the gameplay itself hightens the level of immersion (and resulting frights) as a result of this 'limited' sensory feedback.

The video directly below shows gameplay with and without using the iPad's 'VoiceOver' feature. Below that is the official trailer:
