Building on the gameplay ideas used in the original, The Heist 2 allows more planning and organisation of each level, increasing the tactical element of the game. Before each level you choose your team from con-artists, safe crackers to heavies depending on the mission and the tactics best suited to completing it successfully. Then choose your weapons and car and whichever upgrades will aid you from the mouse controlled options.

The initial part of a mission is the Heist itself where, as the getaway driver, you wait in the car on lookout whilst your team members carryout the robbery. It is up to you to monitor the outside situation and call them out when you think there may be too many cops to handle. Call them out too early and you won’t get enough gold etc to complete the mission, too late and your team wont make it to the car alive. Once they are safely in it’s your job to escape the police.

The next phase is cursor key controlled with the left and right arrows steering the direction and up and down braking and accelerating. One nice feature is the use of the shift key. By holding it down you slow down time and can play in slow motion. The getaway drive is a continuous straight road on which you must dodge the civilian traffic and escape the police whilst the rest of your crew fires on them.

The Heist 2 is simple to control and simple to learn, making it an easily accessible game to play in terms of approachability, and also in it’s gameplay accessibility.
