Space Gate is a vertical scrolling shooter (based on games like Xenon 2 and Cave), which uses an auto fire and can allow you to play by just moving the cursor and without the use of any buttons (once you've navigated the menu).

This pointer movement only gameplay is available when playing the 'Arcade' version of the game. Your space ship essentially replaces your cursor when within the game window, giving you full control over the movement of the ship. Difficulty options also allow players to get familier with the games controls, by starting with the 'Easy' option.
When in pause (press 'P') mode, you can alter the colour filter. Monochrome can be used to make the contrast of the ships and background greater.

Even on the easiest mode, the gameplay is fast paced, requiring quick reactions and control over the cursor. The challenge Space Gate offers gives it lasting playability over the 5 levels.
