A short while ago we posted an article about a one handed setup for Xbox 360 to play FPS games which we created using a flight stick and an adapter which allowed you to remap a controllers' buttons for easier use with complex games such as FPS'.

Here we show a similar a similar setup for PS3 play and another couple of option below.

Setup 1:

This  setup uses a wired flight stick, the Saitek AV8R for Xbox 360. It is combined with an XCM Swapper and an XCM Cross Battle Adapter 2.0 (it is essential to use this verion). Unfortunatley the flight stick doesn't work correctly with just the XCM Swapper and is inconsistent when used just with the Cross Battle Adapter. However, when used together the result is a reliable setup for either left or right hand only use on a PS3.

The Swapper is plugged directly into the PS3, with the Cross Battle Adapter plugged into it and the flight stick into that. You can then use the XCM Swapper to remap the buttons or the analog sticks on the flight stick to make it easier to use.

As before, it is worth noting that to sprint in many FPS games the control stick button needs to be pressed whilst holding the stick in the direction you want to run. As there is no button attached the sticks a button used as 'L3' can be pressed once whilst moving and will keep you sprinting until you release the directional stick.

The setup consists of:

Setup 2:

Similar to the above setup this one uses the same Saitek Xbox 360 Flight Stick, an XCM Swapper, but instead of the XCM Cross Battle Adapter it uses a PS2 to Xbox 360 Converter cable (

Setup 3:

The Thrustmaster T Flight Stick includes in built re-mapping capabilites, allowing you to fully customise button and stick functions. The main joystick shaft is analog, but the small stick on top is only digital meaning that there isn't as much full control of accuracy as the other two setups above when using the small stick to aim/look in FPS'.

Unlike the Saitek and Cyborg sticks which ardesigned to be used with either hand, the Thrustmaster is ergonomically designed to fit the right hand specifically.

See video below for an example of it's use in an FPS:
