PC - Wow Entertaiment/Sega (Age: 15+)
Originally released in as an arcade light gun game back in 2002, HOTD III made a port to the Wii a couple of years ago, showing that it still holds much appeal. Eight years after it's first incarnation, revisiting the 2005 PC version reminds us why it is a game which refuses to die.
As a 'rail-shooter,' gameplay does not require the player to move their character directionally, but solely take control of the 'look' and 'aim' movement. This is controlled using a pointer. To shoot press the left mouse button, whilst the gun reloads automatically.
The gameplay mechanics suit eye-control as an input method for those who are able to use direct pointer control, using blink or a quick dwell to shoot. Other forms of pointer control, providing the user has accurate and fast control, are compatible with the game.
We'll be keeping an eye out for more quality PC rail shooters at a time when their popularity with motion controllers as an input is experiencing a renaissance.
