Forza 3 appears to be trying to tone down it's obsessive, somewhat nerdy approach to racing simulators.  Not by being less obsessive or nerdy about things such as the numbers and details of cars (of which there are a staggering 400) but by encouraging those who may have been put off by their apparent seriousness about the genre, to get involved.

The two main ways they achieve this is the autobrake mode and replay mode. Using autobrake does exactly what it says it will. When you are approaching a corner or another car it will automically brake, meaning all you have to do throughout the race is hold the accelerator on full and concentrate on the steering. If, despite this,  you manage to come off the track or smash into another driver at a critical moment the option comes on screen to replay a section using the back button. This will take you back in time to a point where you can retry a section, having learnt how not to do it previously.

Download a free trial, with the option of trying out both modes on XBox
Live.

I've got to say, i love racing games. but this game really annoyed and frustrated me because its only available on the xbox console and i'm unable to use the controller for that console. however, GT5 will be released for the PS3 soon so you can bet i'll be getting that!

The idea of "auto brake" sound too easy to me, whats the point in playing the game if all you have to do is hold accelarate & steer? also, as for the "replay section" when you crash, is stupid. if thats the case why put a pit-stop there? it all sound boring to me! I don't know about anyone else, but to me having a good smash & writing you car off is half the fun!

Autobrake is optional so if you don't need it - switch it off. The great thing about autobrake is that it means you can jam the accellerator on and play with LEFT and RIGHT alone. So for some switch users, this is a fantastic boon. Also for gamers with slower reactions/comprehension it can be a big help. I wish all racers had it! Can you get Burnout Paradise for the PS3 do you know? You'd probably love that if you've not got it already. Amazing smashes.

Ok, yes you can get Burnout three for the PS3, Ive never played it though. can you tell me, how the "switch users" work? does the switch simply replace another button, e.g - R2 out of reach for me, so would a switch button be placed somwhere in-reach, to replace the function of that R2 button? if so, can u use mulipla switches.. because i could benefit from this!

Hi Daleson - yes, with an adapted controller / specially built switch interface you can plug in what are known as 'accessibility switches' or 'sensors' to use with whatever working part of your body you like. You can see a bit more on this stuff here: http://www.oneswitch.org.uk/1/AGS/AGS-switch.htm - Can be expensive - but can be a great solution too.

This definatly sounds like it could work for me, i'd prefer to test it out on a few games before getting it though! is there any wireless versions available? if not, this would be worth looking into!
