FIFA Online

PC (can be opened in a window) - EA
Sports
Whilst FIFA's mouse control option was dropped from it's latest release after only two years featuring in the PC version, it makes a welcome reappearance in EA's latest project, FIFA Online (Open Beta).
Those who found the input method intuitive
and compatible with their computer control method will be
rewarded with a game which has been designed to be played
using the mouse
alone.
The main controls are as
follows:
- Move cursor to move highlighted player and direct shots/passes (the further away from the player your cursor is the faster they will move).
- Left mouse click to pass. Direct the pass with your cursor either to a player or into space (hold and release for a high pass)
- Right mouse click to shoot or slide tackle when out of possession.
- Hold both the left and right mouse button to bring your keeper out.
Gameplay is based on a league
season vs cpu teams which can be played in co-op mode online or
as a single player. Online multiplayer games can also be played
using your same squad and will go into extra time and penalties
if both teams are drawing at the whistle.
Accurate control of your cursor is
required as well as timed button presses due to the speed and
gameplay area actions must be carried out in.
For those who are able to use eye control accurately, FIFA
Online can be played using direct pointer control with a
blink function to pass and an alternative input method for
a right click function (to shoot/slide tackle) e.g. a
switch or voice control.
FIFA Online demonstrates how pointer control
can be applied to a broad range of games and still give the
player an intuitive and responsive way of controlling gameplay.
Fingers crossed for it's reemergence as an option in FIFA 12 in
the autumn.
