"The world is so different when you're just 5 centimetres tall!"
Arachnophobia is a bewitching game built specifically for Tobii's C12, C15 and PCEye eye-gaze devices (it can also be played using pointer control on other devices).
You play Lore, a girl just 5 centimetres tall who likes squishing spiders, or mites as she calls them. The gameplay area is Lore's kitchen floor which is divided into cells which can be activated by looking at them (when using one of the eye-gaze devices mentioned before).
To the left and right of the gameplay floor are two action options. On the left is a movement cell and on the right is a throw cell. When using movement you you can move in any of eight directions. If you want to throw a newspaper at a mite, you select the throw cell on the right and then select any of four directions around Lore.
Don't let the mites come into the cell you are standing in as your health will suffer. If you collect a cup of tea it will give you a limited period of invincability in which you can step on mites and squish them. Along the way you will come across other characters and objects (watch out for Don Okto!) and new challenges. If things start getting tough you can choose to play on 'Easy' mode from the options menu where you can choose from three levels of difficulty.
Arachnophobia is a very welcome surprise, bringing humourous, challenging and visually appealing gameplay to eye-gaze gamers. More please!
