Flabby Physics

PC (opens in a browser) - Molleindustria (Paolo Pedercini)

Flabby Physics uses just one button (spacebar) to allow you to distort the onscreen shapes in order to move the ball around with the aim of hitting the star (a now common feature of many physics based games), which will allow you to progress to the next level.

Well timed presses are required and it's a case of trial and error with many of the levels in order to work out the timings for multiple button presses.

Poto & Cabenga

By BillGameBase

PC (opens in a browser) - Honeyslug

Requiring mental agility (multi tasking), but using a simple (one button) input method makes Poto & Cabenga a fascinating contradiction and provides just the sort of challenge we like to rise to at GameBase.info.

After being separated at the outset of the game, you must control both Cabenga and Poto on a split screen, avoiding the 'Beasties' and reunite yourselves after your separate (yet shared) adventures.

To control Poto you  hold down the spacebar to gallop and let go to jump. With Cabenga you release the spacebar to run and press it to jump. These opposing controls mean that you must watch the two characters simultaneously, making compromises and choice judgments as to when to release and when to press the spacebar.

Net Blazer

PC (opens in a separate window) - Flash Game Studio

Simple gameplay mechanics make Net Blazer a satisfying addition to the powerbar switch game genre (if their is such a thing), whilst offering a testing challenge to players of a range of abilities.

After navigating the menu with a mouse, the gameplay itself relies solely on the use of either left click or spacebar. Using either, you must aim to press once the red dot on the powerbar is in the centre of the cross. Firstly when it is moving up and down and then for a second time when moving from left to right.

"There’s no dying, just lots of cursing over missed jumps and having to do it all over again."

Runnerby is a smart, imaginative and challenging one button game (using the space bar). The improvisational element to the audio gels nicely with the spontaneous and experimental nature of the game mechanics.

Blitz Bombing

PC (opens in a browser) - Flash Arcade Game Site

Blitz Bombing, as it openly states in the title page, is based on the VIC-20 game '
Blitz,' a one button game from the early 80's. In respect to the original ethos of the game, Blitz Bombing maintains the simple yet captivating (quickly becoming one of our favourite and overused GameBase phrases) gameplay, which made the original so popular.

The aim is to release bombs onto the city below. As the levels progress, the cityscape become more populated and with increasingly taller buildings. To drop a bomb, press the spacebar. With each right to left pass the plane makes you drop altitude, making the higher skyscrapers a priority.

Prison Throw

PC (opens in a browser) - hilldan

The aim of prison throw is to launch yourself from a human catapult with the hope of landing over the wall and escape the jail. Alternativly, you will have to settle with the satisfaction of a good effort and try to make a new personal best for the distance travelled.

To launch yourself you wait until you are facing an upwards angle and then press the space bar once to start a power bar (or Pris-O-Meter) and again to stop it. Once launched it's fingers crossed that you will bounce on the various boxes of dinamite, tramolines and bags of cash left strewn about the prison yard.

Mouse Click

Mouse Click Screenshot.jpg
PC (opens in a browser)

A simple game in which your aim is to travel as far as possible around the track without touching the sides. The only movement is left. To move left press or hold your left mouse button (or switch).

Gameplay requires accurate timing of switch presses as well as the ability to correct the direction of your car quickly. The screen size is fairly small and can be increased using the 'Change zoom level' function in the bottom right of your browser.

Hard Way

Hard Way Screen Shot.jpg
PC (opens in a browser) - Fast Games

Hard Way's one key, side scrolling, distance gaining, completly addicting gameplay action plays like Canabalt and Epic Coaster. Like its stable mates, it is a fast paced game, requiring quick key (or switch) presses with accurate timing.

Using either the left mouse button, space bar or a switch set the control either, your aim is to gain the most distance (measured in metres) by using your sword to latch on to ropes, drop draw bridges and fend of attackers. Your one key will do all this for you, providing you get your timing correct.
