Hi, my name's Luke, I have cerebral palsy. I play my ps3 alot and have difficulty using the L1, L2, R1 & R2 buttons. I am looking into having a controller custom made but I can't work out a design, without trying some different controllers out I don't know what switches etc would work best for me.

Also, worth metioning that there are people who would be able to make adaptations to a regular controller adding front mounted R1.L1 etc buttons to the front of the controller or add switch inputs to allow switches to be used as R1, L1 etc...

Meanwhile, I've asked Luke how it might work out with an adapted controller with switch system. Possibly using a tailor-built switch box with four push buttons and four latching buttons/toggle-switches to give easier access over the shoulder-buttons.

Might do part of the trick. Luke's said that he doesn't get on with bulky arcade stick type controls, favours using his left hand that has the best control, and normally uses a standard JoyPad placed on a tray. He uses one-thumb stick at a time, which of course makes aiming tricky in some games. He tends to play sports games as they are more accessible, but is trying to play Read Dead Redemption presently. The difficulty accessing the shoulder buttons is making play very difficult at the minute.

I'm sure Luke won't mind me saying that he also thinks it would really help if more games had the facility to reconfigure the controls in a flexible way.

About Luke... if he doesn't get on with bulky arcade stick type controls and can play with a PS3 controller, the better, simple and cheaper way is to add 4 inputs to a PS3 controller and use 4 switch for shoulder buttons.

By the way, received a very useful diagram today of what Luke would like to try out. It will be an adapted JoyPad with two separate boxes (both looking a bit like a die with a four rolled as regards switch lay out). One side will be hold to activate. The other will use a latching system. Got a question for you Luke... Using a ruler, how high, ideally, would the push button boxes be? I can use alternative push-buttons that are not too deep, if these ones are going to present a problem.
