Hi there guys, Earlier this year I got myself a Blackberry
PlayBook, pretty good bit of kit, but after the latest update and
all the new added features its got me thinking how usefull this
could be to people......
The first thing, and I love this, the whole thing can be remotely used via your blackberry phone, the track pad as a mouse and the keyboard as, well, a keyboard, I've had the PB plugged into my 37" hd TV (via HDMI) and been googling ladsa stuff, yep a big pc! sorting my emails, facebook and twitter (you can also do linkdyn) all from 1 email account app, better still it has predictive text that gives a selection of 5 words handy for the poor spellers like me! another bonus is the phone can be used for the same thing if your pc has blue tooth adapter, a mouse and keyboard in the palm of your hand! another new feature is the addition to 1,000's of android apps, and blackberry were giving away a PlayBook to developers to adjust the android apps and test, can we get a few of these for Special Effect to use for new apps and adapt? The Playbook (and Blackberry) have alawys been a buiseness based bit of kit but now with the addition of Android has opened up the tablet market, even though alot of reviews have slated the Playbook people need to look deeper at the comments left, one review I read was obviously biased towards the iPad, the reviewer said it was just an email reciever that didn't even let you BCC messages, well that just went to show thats hes not even used one, its there in plain veiw! so be warned, forget the reviews! I'm still finding my way round this great bit of kit, my son Natty (Right Hemiplegic Cerebal Palsey) can use it with my phone as a remote and he's only 10 and has alot of educational problems! If anyone wants to know more just give me a shout and I will help as best I can! oh, and one more thing, the price! iPad 16gb - £370 compared to the PlayBook 16gb £160 to £170! check one out! I will try and get some pics and vids up soon on it if I can borrow someones video, my video is the playbook now, 720p hd vid recording! check the Blackberry website for more features on it, its well worth a look! |

If its any help, these are the things you can use to build PlayBook or phone app'sI'm thinking of getting into it a bit myself, give it a go and see if I can build something that can be of use to people! BlackBerry is an open platform that provides a variety of development languages and runtimes designed to fit your skills. Your choice will be based on a combination of familiarity, possibly having a pre-existing codebase as well as the target devices you wish to serve.
CC++Native SDK
Choose C/C++ Native SDK if you have a game or app with an
existing C/C++ codebase and you wish to bring it to
PlayBook and the BB10 platform.
JavaAndroid Runtime
Port existing Android apps and games to PlayBook and BB10
and expand your market. Simply re-package and distribute
through App World.
